What Michael Jackson's death says about us...

It really is too bad about Michael Jackson, in the same way it's too bad when anyone dies. That being said, I'm having a hard time understanding exactly why so many people are freaking out about it and, more importantly, why CNN had breaking news about his death even days after. Because seriously CNN, he's not getting any deader. Or maybe a lot of people were expecting a resurrection after three days.

I guess that when celebrities die, it rocks our own little worlds with the realization that no one is safe from the realities of life, not even those we assume live a world or two above us. The death of a star (and the coverage that always follows, unless you have the bad fortune of dying on the same day as Michael Jackson) is a lot like finding a famous person's turds floating in the toilet — shocking, a little disgusting and disappointing to know that they are indeed the same as the rest of us.

They say imitation is the highest form of flattery, so here is something that Jackson's death prompted me to look up on You Tube.

ha. we've been shocked, amazed and mocking all the people in tears on tv over this for the past few days... and yes, we're going to hell. but that's not the reason.:)
