One

I decided to take a trip down memory lane today at work and used "90s" as a tag for LastFM. Where else can you be randomly carted from high school in the early 1990s (Hunger Strike by Temple of the Dog) AND to college in the late 1990s (Inside Out by Eve 6)? Anyway, the Eve 6 song is one that I have already forgotten how it goes, but as I heard it today, I was back in my trashed-out Corsica, crusing around the Little Apple over on Tuttle Creek Blvd., enjoying tater tots from Sonic. And who can forget the late-night trips to Wal-Mart, where I would buy packages of cheap underwear because I was too lazy to do laundry. Or too broke. But, in hindsight, if I had money for new drawers, then certainly I had money to go to Sud's Y'r Duds. But whatever. I lived my skankiness with pride, damn it.

If you aren't familiar with LastFM, I suggest you get with the program, post haste! You can listen to music according to tags or by artist. Then you get a random smattering of music with the tag you choose or music from artists similar to the one you chose. That was not a very pretty sentence, but you hopefully are catching the drift I'm sending your way. The link will probably take you to the German site, but you can change the language in the upper right-hand corner. And now it just occured to me that maybe LastFM has been hip in the U.S. for years, and I just realized that it exists half a year ago, like an unfrozen caveman or something. Well, humor me. My mom always sends me her old People magazines, and it's full of juicy gossip about celebrities I don't know and TV shows that have gone on and off the air since my fleeing the U.S. some eight years ago.

Our goal for this evening is to do the German thing and stay up until midnight so we can "celebrate into" my birthday. If we make it that long, there's a chilled bottle of alcohol-free sparkling wine waiting for us. Boy!
