The first of these phases is supposed to happen around 5 weeks, but since my kid could be nothing less than a genius, we are doing some heavy spurting here in Frankfurt at 4 weeks. The book recommends that when parents notice that their kids more difficult than usual, they should pay attention to see if the baby can do something new. And after Harper managed to fetch the paper, my slippers and a snifter of fine whisky for mommy, we knew that something must be up.
OK, forget that. But she can now follow things with her eyes as they go by, rather than in the Superbowl/Grammy/Academy Awards Five-Second-Delay-In-Case-Someone-Does-Something-Unsavory Mode. And it seems that sleeping during the day is a thing of the past, or maybe that's just a side effect of all this spurting.
But it sure is giving mommy a headache, and now she needs her medicine. Fresh from the tap, please. Oh, what the hell: Just hook it to my vein.
